Students at Walter Fitzgerald Campus in Fairfield were told to shelter in place on Thursday, May 13, after school officials called the Fairfield Police Department to search the school when fears surfaced that a student may have a weapon at the school, said Andrea Clark, director of communications at Fairfield Public Schools.
The shelter in place was lifted around noon Thursday, after police searched the school, and talked with the students involved and no weapon was found, said Fairfield Police Lt. Antonio Granata.
According to Granata, the incident began on Wednesday, May 12, when two students got into an argument and one of the students involved told officials he believed the other student had a weapon.
"Our thanks to the Fairfield Police Department for their support and guidance," said Clark.
Granata said one of the students was issued a juvenile violation.
